  1. The "lower class" is the poor - they don't need another label , the government has programs that feed them , house them, give them medical coverage and find them jobs.

Some of the problem lies in the fact the poor are often too proud to ask for help, ignored or scaled out of programs due to budget cuts and persons that don't need the programs committing fraud to get them.

  2. It's a disgrace, a scandal, and an outrage- the way the Bush Administration has totally IGNORED the working poor in this Country, over the past 7 years...  :(

  3. The lower class in North America are treated good. It's the people in the lower class that abuse and don't use the help as a temporary means to an end.

  4. I like what a few people said below. Believe me, I grew up po... could not even afford an r in poor. It is a mind set, but not an end. There are so many programs in America that helps others. Even a country like Japan, many would say is successful and great...guess what...no welfare system. If your family does not take care of you, you beg on the street...no nursing homes. We as americans do care. Ummm, government...is people. Some are elected, some are just jobs, but staffed by people. I am part of the government. I work in the reserves...federal govt, and work in a school system, ... local/ county govt...but I also vote. Every American unless under 18 or a felon, has that right. Be very careful what you read in the liberal press. Be very careful of all options. Read and study and get to the bottom of reasons why people are where they are. Govt treating lower class americans is perhaps not the question you are really wanting to ask. Perhaps this is it.... Why does the present administration not seem to support policies that engage and help lower class Americans? Now, the easy answer to that may be funding. Everyone has their hand out and there are only so many dollars or programs to help out. Here is a question to consider. If the govt helps out someone with rent...what does the govt...you and me, get back for that dollar we just took from our pocket, gave to the govt that they in turn gave to that person. I feel is is ok to require them to use that dollar wisely and encourage and push that person to actually contribute to their own success by getting a job and keeping it. It is ok to be down and out and in need of help. Just get back up on your own two feet and work and contribute to America by paying taxes. That is the simple truth. Hope that helped.
