What do you think about these areas of Charlotte?

I'm a 26 year old female moving to Charlotte soon. I want to live somewhere that's trendy and close to uptown, and where I feel safe. I'm looking to rent something for no more than $950 a month. I've looked at places to live in the following areas:

NoDa

Garden district of First Ward

W. Hill St.

corner 10th st & N. Graham in Historic Forth Ward

Cranbrook Lane

N. Caldwell at 15th St.

E. 34th at N. Davidson

Oakland Ave at Central

I'd appreciate any opinions, please!!!!

I don't know squat about Charlotte, but if you haven't already, check the forums on city-data.com:

I find them very helpful in getting lots of opinions from locals about the city crime rate, 'atmosphere,' economy, etc. in different areas.
