  1. Nice answerers.  I've been through two teenaged drivers.  Everyon'e s a threat on the road and a BMW is not the screaming powerhouse of a car some would have you believe.  If you and your parents can afford a beemer for you to drive then its a perfect first car.  They have a solid crash rating, they are a joy to drive, and can take punishment.

btw, a 3 series is no more a chick car than anything else on the road.

  2. A Beemer is not a good car for a 16 year old.  It's an expensive car, and the insurance would be horrendous.  It has too much power for a new driver to handle also.  It would be an accident waiting to happen, and you'd be damned lucky to avoid a serious, life-threatening accident in the first 6 months.

Wait until you get some experience and real driving skills.  You don't get this from your Driver's Ed class.  You get it from driving hundreds or thousands of hours over the first 4-5 years. When you're 21 (or even 25) you will be better able to drive a car like this.  Right now, you'd probably be a threat to anyone else on the road.

  3. BMW are great cars, and yes they are good for sixteen year olds. I am 21 and my first car was a cadillac so dont let people out you just because you can afford that and they cant. My little brother is sixteen and he has A 2006 BMW 650ci and it has 360HP! My fathers thinking is that if you give a kid a nice car he will treat it like a nice one, on the other hand if you have an old clunker then guess what....you are going to treat it like that!

  4. It is not good for a new driver. Why?

New drivers cant handle that much power, nor pay for the insurance. Have you looked at the maintenance bills on the 3 series after the 3 years free oil change is up?

  5. y dunt u buy a more sportier car..

325i is a gud car IF u modified it..(lotta chicks den)

  6. A bit expensive for a first car, and expensive to repair...

Get something sturdy ( like an Accord or Camry) that you can hit bushes, curbs, and trash cans with...

Then when you have learned to drive in 2-3 years, get a BMW.....

  7. it's a good car if you are a girl... 3 series are girls cars. Sorry but it's true

  8. if you are loaded sure why not, but if youre middle working class like myself that's just too much car for a kid

  9. if it drives it is good

  10. Not a good car for the inexperienced young driver.  The 3 series BMW is a High Performance sports sedan. They look great and they are good cars but in my opinion it's just "too much" car for a first car. Not even considering the fact that they are expensive to insure, maintain and to drive.

  11. Na, 16 year old is going to beat it up. If it's got to be a beamer do something a little older. Like an 1999-2003 that way when you damage it, you wont feel too bad.

  12. Way too much of a car for a 16 year old, guarantee he/she will get hot headed and think they are so cool, plus it costs way too much to insure for a young driver. Plus someone would probably vandalize it, I don't even have a BMW (I got a Subaru as my first car) and it still got keyed :P
