What do you think about this parental decision?

today i called my friend to ask him if he could come over, he said no because he slept until 1 in the afternoon. He explained that his mom doesn't allow him to go anywhere, nor have anyone come over to his house if he doesn't wake up by 10 in the morning.

so why do you think his mom has this rule?

do you agree with her not letting him leave/have people come over? or do you disagree?

Well, I could see why his mom would make that rule. Sleeping in until 1pm is typically irresponsible. Certainly, there are times that sleeping until 1pm are acceptable, depending on work schedules, lack of sleep days in a row, etc. But if his mom has this rule it seems that his sleeping habits have gotten out of hand, and it seems she is trying to provide him with some incentive to be more disciplined in this area.

their can be other reasons for him not being able to come out....he could very well be making this up....if its the truth then i believe that the mother is probably trying to teach him responsibility and may think this is the only way to reach her son

It's kind of silly, but it depends on a few things. Like his age, what he was doing to make him sleep in so late, and if he had chores or things to do around the house. Personally I feel that just because it's summer break that doesn't mean you have to sleep in really late and just play or hang out with friends all day every day.

It's terrible and stupid.  She is an overbearing and controlling  n**i.  Having friends and doing things with them is important, and sleeping in is not worthy of any sort of punishment whatsoever.  It is so stupid that I am mad right now.  But don't rip on his mom cuz that might p**s him off.

she feels he isup too late at night and sleeping all day. maybe she wants him to get prober sleep and get back on a regular schedule for his own good. it is a rule cant do nothing about it. my mom never let me sleep pss 7am summer or not. always wanted me up, do chores etc.

It's pretty stupid but she may just do it in hopes to get his butt up earlier...she most not been one of us teenagers who slept half the day..LOL

Well, being it is summer vacation the rule seems a bit weird, but maybe she feels like if he wasted most of the day sleeping he doesn't deserve to do anything else? I don't necessarily agree with the rule, but it does kind of make sense!
