What do you think about this short poem???

Question

Move to New York City, take it one-by-hand. Leave it there with the things on the door step. And there's no way around it. Could this be our last dance? Fall asleep with the TV, darlin. I'll be back again.

What do you think "it" means in the second sentence? I think it could mean leave all the pain and hurt and bad memories. Just like forget about it, ya know? what do you think? i think that little poem is meaningful.
