  1. Aside from the obvious...people earn a living because of it...I would say exposure to people and places of other cultures is not only a good learning experience it also helps to foster the consciousness of  us all being human...getting to know others frees us from fear of the unkown and is the only way to unite us.

  2. It's important because it brings in incomes for the country. These incomes generated by the consumption of goods and services by tourists. It also contributes to opportunities for employment and economic growth such as hotel and restaurant industries.

  3. I'm Canadian.  I love my country and I love it when people come to see it.  I love it when I run into bus loads of Asian or European or Indian tourists that ask me all kinds of questions in broken English.  They just want to know and I love being able to tell them.  I love when they shop in the tourist shops and walk around wearing clothing they thinks is traditional to Canada.  I saw an entire Asian family come out of a western shop fully decked out in western cowboy regalia.  They had Wrangler jeans, plaid shirts, bolo ties, shiny cowboy boots and huge Stetson hats.  They looked so cute and they were having the time of their lives.  They asked me where they could get Starbucks!  I love it.  I suppose I would look just as funny if I went to a foreign country and walked around in a kimono or a turban and asked where I could find a Starbucks.
