  1. Well back at the Uof M 1973, there I was in a classroom auditorium of 800 students and a huge screen with a tape of the lecture, lecture notes were handed out on the way in. Many people read the newspaper while listening. it was psych 101. Never saw a teacher.  Another class 300 students and a screen comes down.  Its 2008 and I'm sure we are all used to it.

  2. great idea except some kids need a teacher to show them in person not just over the internet.  over all good

  3. i've been an online student, and i loved it!

  4. The virtual classroom at my cyber school does have an actual real-time teacher teaching the actual class.  Everyone in the class has headsets and microphones, so they can talk to each other with no problems.  They can also write on the board.  The students love it!  (It's helpful for all sorts of kids who for whatever reason couldn't succeed in their regular schools.)

  5. i think it sounds really cool. i would love to see that its like!

but there are a lot of pros and cons

  6. its ok i guess but a regular class room i perfer

  7. Virtual classrooms have pros and cons.  If a virtual classroom is right for you depends on your motivation and learning style.  If you learn well on your own and by reading then it can be a very successful way to complete a course.  On the other hand, if you are an auditory learner you really should go to a traditional class so you can hear the discussions and lectures.

I am currently taking online classes to earn my degree.  I am a visual and textile learner.  I am outgoing as well.  The virtual classroom is great for me.  I do not have to go to class and listen to lectures that I will not retain anyway.  I just log on to class and can read lectures and discussions.  I retain a lot more this way.

Another thing I find to be great is the time.  I can log on anytime day or night.  I am a busy home school mom of two.  I am working toward my teaching degree.  I can log on after the children have completed their studies for the day.  Also, if I have an appointment it does not get in the way of my studies.  I just do my school work after the appointment.

A drawback to online classes is that you do not have to see your instructor face to face.  This has created a few problems when I have had a question.  Not all of the instructors are prompt at answering their email, so you end up doing your work without the answer you needed.

Another drawback is it can be easy for people to misinterpret what you are trying to say because they are not able to see your expressions or hear the tone of your voice.  Because of this, you have to be extremely careful with how you word everything you post to the class discussions.

It all comes down to personal preference.

  8. no good i tried it

  9. Virual classrooms are good for some people but not everyone can learn this way. There is less contact and it's much harder to communicate throught virtural classroom, however, many people excel well on their own and Virtural classroom is great for these people.

  10. In theory it should be the best solution to all your problems because there is no point in playing truant. You either attend or not. Do you want to learn ?

  11. i wrote on essay about this on criterion once,

  12. Although there are many great things about a virtual classroom, one of the most important things will be missing-- human contact.  I have taken several courses online and there were great in many aspects-- I could work at my own pace, I could do my homework at 3 a.m. if I wanted to and I didn't have to worry about finding parking, the weather, etc.  It was kind of hard to get in contact with my professors if I had a question or concern...I had to wait on an email to get a response.  All of the problems that occurred could have been handled in less than 30 seconds if I were in a face to face environment.

I still enjoy the convenience of being able to fit schooling into my schedule with online classes and I will continue to take them.

I think the pros outweigh the cons if a person has a good social life offline.
