  8. Stupidity.

  9. I think the biggest contributing factor to accidents is that the majority of people aren't completely comfortable in their cars.  Sure they may feel fine and not be afraid of driving, but if you don't have complete confidence in your machine and your ability to control your machine, accidents will happen.

I drive like a madman and have never hit another vehicle in my life.  *knock on wood

  10. Distracted drivers,careless driving.

  11. Of course you think you can drive while listening to the radio, talking on your cell phone and eating, with kids and pets in the back seat. Who doesn’t?

Every single person who had an accident from being distracted thought he or she could handle such “multi-tasking,” right?

So just how big a distraction are distractions? Last year, only 4,300 accidents were caused by the major distractions. Oh, that’s 4300 a day.

Otherwise known as 3 a minute around the clock, or, one quarter of all auto accidents, or 1.5 million a year.

(Technically, almost all accidents are caused by someone “being distracted,” but we’ll settle for a quarter due to specific, known distractions.)

  12. An accident can happen to any person at any time.  You could be sober or intoxicated, alert or distracted.

  13. Tailgateing and cell phones.

  14. Probably not looking around correctly, misjudging another cars distance/speed, and speeding yourself.

  15. I would have to say inexperience given the young people get into accidents often.

    Good Luck...

  16. not paying attention, running red lights, tailgating
