  1. Use things they can all interact with, catching one child's attention is hard when speaking to all, seeing and feeling and using there senses grabs attention as well, start a day of with cupcakes, surprise them often. depending on what grade you are trying to reach out too using the senses  has always created thought and focus.

  2. Keeping them interested. I've had teachers who did nothing but drone on and drown us in facts, and everyone was bored out of their minds and understandably, minds wandered. On the other hand, I've had teachers which engaged students, kept them interested, and the attention span was unbelievable, no-one screwed up or nothing.

  3. As a student I always wanted to hear information in a manner that made it appear important in my life.  Method varies with the subject matter you are presenting.  As an instructor, I always found that keeping everyone active and involved solves behavior issues.  Never get anxious or angry...never raise your voice.  As often as possible, ask what they want from the subject...can they answer your question for you?  Good luck.

  4. try not only talking. try activities, they dont have to be like games or anything but get them involved. for instance. if it is math. once you teach them the principle of the subject, have every student go up to the board one at a time and do a problem so they arent just sitting there being bored. If there is one peticular child that is pretty bad. make rules that are kind of funny but do make them stop. i once had a teacher who. would make the kid pick up anything they threw or something with there teeth. also if you catch a note being passed, make the the kid passing it read it out loud in front of the class. (be behind him so he doesnt lie about what he wrote.) DONT BE BORING.  dont just drone on and on. trust me im a 15 year old kid who has good ideas. use them.

  5. Get a book by Fred Jones on classroom management. He is a CM wizard! There are so many different situations that require different responses that it is impossible to answer in one paragraph. Another really good book is called "What Great Teachers Do Differently". Also, think back on the behaviors of the teachers you had as a student that you really liked and behaved well for.
