What do you think are the positive influences/good effects of the media?

We keep criticising the media for corrupting people's minds, specially childrens'... but I am sure it has many good things to give to the society... Please enlist some positives of the media (not the possible ones, the ones that really exist these days)?

Media educates, unfortunately controls and filters are increasingly important. Some have access to too  much of the wrong kind and others are  left with what ever comes over the air waves from an antenna. Media has speed and can be devastatingly raw. Live news BRUTAL. There are media images still stuck in may head from 1963. The positive is that if we use it well we can have access to anything we want to know and that makes it more possible to do anything we can imagine.

i have very little positive to say about the media!!  i guess the fact they get information out there!  whether or not it's true or false doesn't seem to matter.  after that i got nothing
