What do you think are the reasons why the C/E was very angry? ( Please read the following details. )?

During a long voyage, all the engines inside the engine room was fueled by Bunker C, when the ship docked, the engine personnel was not able to change over from Bunker C to MDO, the C/E was so furious about the mistake. What do you think are the reasons why the C/E was very angry?

  1. Angry because they could not change over, the crew is responsible for being able to change. The C/E is accountable for the mistake of his crew.


  2. Doesn't sound like there was any mistake, just an inability to do it.   Maybe the CE had assigned someone to fix the problem and was told it was fixed before reaching the pier.   Other reasons CE  was probably upset;

    - MDO is more expensive than bunker C.

    -Bunker C is more polluting, thus maybe making the ship liable for pollution fines in port.

    -Bunker C creates more soot that can land on pleasure boats in port.   The company can be liable for cleaning all the boats the soot lands on.
