We used to live in NJ and would go to Danbury, CT for the weekend.  The BEST restaurant is there!  It's Chinese and Japanese food and it is amazing- haven't found a place as good since then.

If you want amazing seafood in a casual environment---check out Sono Seaport Seafood.  Great lobsters, corn on the cob, great New England food.  Right by the aquarium.  Fun place. You can sit outside or inside.
