Question:

What do you think as to happen to a woman to make her a feminist?

I, unfortunately, have discovered the clan of radical feminists here on Yahoo! Answers. My first encounter was a question labeled "Why are all men like dogs!?" Rather amusing, but strange at the same time. All men are not dogs. Where on earth do radical feminist women come up with these ideas?

  1. You mean a radical feminist, I am assuming. Feminism is natural if you believe in equality. I think people are radically feminist for the same reason anyone is biased or hateful for anything. They had a bad life, they have been mistreated somehow, they were taught to hate men, etc. I hope you don't judge all feminists on some radicals, honestly, feminism started out as equality for everyone, despite gender.

  2. Severe and fundamental character failings lead them (radical feminists) to pin their colours to a mast, in an attempt to establish an identity where none existed. This behavior can be witnessed in extremists of all kinds. Feminism and female politics are very real issues in certain parts of the world but in most developed countries it is now nothing more than dogma.

  3. I guess maybe we have different definitions of feminist... I think that I feminist is a women who demands to be treated equally... and I think they're right.

  4. well if this woman is feminist then basically if she wants to be equal she's actually calling herself a dog too.

  5. I think "patois" answer is interesting, but since there are no impediments to a woman getting and doing all the things she names, I don't see how the mental illness of misandry can be blamed on "gender roles"...

  6. To the majority of those who have responded. Rice did say "...radical feminist...."

Rice, do you really have to ask this question, I mean it is pretty obvious they are pissed off at men.

    Discernment tells me that

this question + your pushed out breast photo = I want attention from men here.

    lol  whatever.

  7. In the past it grew out of either "daddy issue's" or real discrimination against them.

Now it is mostly indoctrination in either home from a feminist mother ,school feminist education system  or TV.

But feminism combined with the current me-me-me consumer attitude is a dangerous combo.

    ----------------

Seems what some people think feminism is and what it does doesnt add up.

Equaltarian is the concept of men and women having equal rights.

Feminism is a concept of female supremacy.

And in alot of relationship's the dude does well over 50% of house work. And watchs the kids.

We are gripping about affirmitive action, equal outcome ideology, alimony, parental ailenation, lack of child visitation,

child support without accountability, no reproductive rights(feminists have kept us from getting our own pill for 20 years),

Draft(dont here feminists demanding making women sign up for selective service to get federal grants and aid), no assistance with domestic abuse(men are victims of it 50% of the time but there is no place for us to go), unfair property divisions(marriages dont last forever anymore but we continue to treat them that way when it comes to rights in a divorce to the others property).

             Discrimination in the educational system.

Most feminist grievences inregards to pay could be solved by better wage bargaining and career choices. If sexism exist's or any form of discrimination it should be punished.

But if you take 10,20 years off dont expect to be paid as much as someone who worked in that field for 20 years.

+ All the man hating often refered to as feminist humor,

You can justify feminism all you want. But hate is hate. Equal rights is main stream and something every citizen expects regardless of race or gender. Feminists dont want equality, they want superiority. Look at feminists reaction when the states tried to set up paternity fraud laws.

Actions speak louder than words. You can say you want equality but those that carry the same banner routinly dismantle mens civil rights and advocate gendercide.

Why should I take the words of feminist seriously when I know there intent by there actions?

  8. Bad experience with men seems to do the trick.

  9. What happens? Fully developed frontal lobe would be my guess.

Do you have a link to that question?

I'd love to see which troll posted it, I doubt any of the regular or semi-regular feminists here would, unless it was a joke.

If you paid attention you might notice that.

    Cheers :-)

  10. So... real or fake.  I just have to know.

Yeah, women become feminists because of various reasons I guess.  I think mostly some have had some negative experiences which make them want to fight for some causes... or something like that.

  11. It's in the word "radical".

  12. I don't base my views on any group of people based on the questions or answers in Yahoo Answers. Hint: This is the internet-where various people post anonymously-it's not reality.

I've never seen the question you supposedly saw (maybe it was deleted) and I've been visiting this site off and on for a year and a half. On the other hand-you may have missed what I regularly see-questions such as "why are men smarter than women" "why are girls so mean" or "why do feminists hate men" and often see answers such as "women are gold diggers" "feminists are all lesbians" or "women are too emotional".

Feminists are interested in striving for equality-it sounded like a good idea-so I became one. I don't know of any radical feminists as the majority of 2nd wave radical feminists from the 1960's are dying out. We don't have too many posters here who are 70 or 80-probably-none.

fyi: Someone who denigrates all men-is not a feminist. Mocking specific men or women is another matter entirely-some of the people here set themselves up-it's hard to  answer them seriously.

  13. What can you say they are feminists

  14. What makes a woman a feminist is she perceives her right to have expectations.  She expects to get to go to school and enjoy equal educational opportunity just like men.  That's feministic.  She expects to be allowed to study any field of knowledge just like a man.  That's feministic. She expects to be allowed to get a driver's license just like a man.  That's feministic.  She expects to be allowed to vote.  That's feministic.  She expects to have equal job opportunities and to be able to enter any field of study she wants to.  That's feministic.  She expects her husband to do his share of housework and childcare as a two-income family.  That's feministic.  She expects be allowed to be allowed to work and receive equal pay.  That's feministic. She expects to be allowed credit and credit cards just like a man.  That's feministic.  She expects to be able to have a bank account, own a business, own a home, get published and get a patent just like men do.  That's all feministic.  Whatever women today EXPECT related to their human rights is feminism.  Before feminism, women had only Cinderella fantasies, not legally protected expectations.  Man-hate is not feminism.. It's misandry.  Many women, not as many as men of course, are harmed by "gender roles" to the point of mental disease and vent here many psychological manifestations of the damage caused to them by such morbid traditional acculturations.

  15. Polarised thinking. Just nutty people. Another bunch that I think should have confined themselves to poetry that day.

  16. You know I have been on this site for over two years and I've never seen a "question" like that.   That really seems more like a misogynist tactic.

  17. wait, is this a Q about feminists or radical feminists?

Normal feminists are just fine (what's wrong with fighting for equal women rights?), the radical feminists are much scarier - not quite sure how women become radical like that but it appears the men somewhere in their lives lit the fuse on their tampon strings and now they're eternally exploding with PMS-like insanity.

  18. There are no radical feminists here. We're all liberals. We like men. They are men and dogs are dogs. Nothing has to "happen" to a woman to make her a feminist. I've faced very little sexism in my life, and I'm still a feminist.

  19. A feminist is simply a person (male or female) who believes that  women and men should be socially, politically, and economically equal.  Feminists believe that gender is a socially constructed concept that is not fundamentally tied to s*x.

A radical feminist believes that the oppression of women is tied to the workings of capitalism, and calls for a fundamental economic restructuring to improve women's well-being.  It has nothing to do with "being crazy."

  20. Women who have been badly treated by a succession of men, particularly cheated on by many men are likely to decide that all men are dogs - that is their experience.

(i don't see this as feminist or radical feminist since some women have had this sort of reaction to that sort of male behavior for a few thousand years.)

It has been my experience that most women become feminist

is there first job, particularly after college.

where , given a male and a female with the same degree and same grades from the same school, he is likely to be placed in an entry level management and she is placed in an entry level secretarial job.

maybe that is not your experience, but it is mine.

  21. Your a great women miss rice.
