  1. the biggest problem is the truck speed limit, at 55 mph it's slows down the other traffic and we all know the secret  to a successful freeway,  It's SPEED  the faster traffic flows the more cars the highways can handle.   So if we raise the speed limit for all cars and trucks to 80 mph and set a minimum speed of 70 and designate special lanes at 70, 75, and 80 and then give tickets for driving to slow, this should alleviate the problem for a while...

  2. If we all rode motorcycles it would help a lot.  I'm doing my part.  Less pollution too.

  3. Get rid of cars all together, That wold stop global warming and greatly decrease congestion.

  4. The mindset in CA needs to be changed.  You don't need a car to get everywhere.  CA would be a good test market for licensing by the mile.  The more miles you drive, the more you pay.

Also, government needs to invest massive amounts in mass transit.  More inter - and intra-city trains, more buses, etc.  Monies could come from licensing fees.

  5. Not even car-pooling can save you guys.  The city is set up so you can't go anywhere without a car.  Good luck!

  6. Yeah, I hear it is pretty bad out there. It is awful here in Florida too. Too many cars and too few roads. Rapid growth have made the roads tough to travel. I guess the solution (other than folks leaving these areas) would be a mixture of proper and responsible city planning (by learning how to say "no" to developers) and good public transportation. I am not sure about Los Angeles, but Florida lacks both.

  7. deport the illegal mexicans, there's is about 1/2 your traffic

  8. Have every one take the bus or the train. It's about time we get a good transit system in L.A.

  9. Expand the Metro Rail network.

It has 5 lines already, with 2 more in the works.  But everytime they try to build, special objects.  For example, the parking lot operators lobbied hard (and won) to prevent the train from coming to LAX, because it would hurt their profitability.

Also, build the Wilshire subway fast.

  10. 10 million people leave the area.

  11. There's no traffic problem in LA. It's just your imagination. The 405 flows freely. The 5 is a breeze. The 10 is a walk in the park. The 60 is like a day at the beach.
