Okay so last Wednesday a week ago i had 8 teeth including my wisdom teeth. I have a bump where my tooth was pulled. It is hurting but it's not that bad. I don't think it is a dry socket. My aunt said it was probably just healing which i think it is but it shouldn't have a bump like ball because none of my other teeth that were pulled has that. What do you think it could be? Or what do you think is wrong? I see my ears nose & throat doctor tommorow and i will let him check it out but he is not a dentist so i don't know if he will be able to do anything.

She called my orthodontist yesterday and told him i have been in severe pain since i got my braces on monday. It is effecting my sleep and waking me up thats how bad the pain is for my teeth only. He just told me to continue doing the mouth wash he didn't seem to care.

I posted this here because no one is answering it and i asked it twice in the dental section. So your suggestions would be nice. Thank you :)

  1. Yes, you have had a lot done at once.

The bump could be a root tip or a piece of bone.  It could just be some scar tissue.  If it's not terribly painful, I wouldn't worry too much.  If it is root or bone it will usually work itself out.  If it can't get out on it's own, it will be red and very sore and may need some help.  If it was infection, it would ooze and maybe have an odor.  You'll know.  You are going to be very sore after having braces placed but it should gradually get better.

A dry socket would have you in tears.  It's not hard to know a dry socket because they are SO painful.

Your ear, nose and throat doctor will probably be able to tell you what it is and may or may not be able to help.

It almost seems a little mean to do all those procedures to you so close together.  Poor thing, it will get better though.  Just be tough and be patient.  If there is something serious going on, you'll be able to tell.  If you just don't feel comfortable about what is happening, make your parents take you in for a re-check.  It shouldn't cost any more.  A good dr. will follow up on his treatment at no additional fee.  Peace of mind is worth a lot!

I wish you the best of luck!

  2. keep using the mouthwash as advised, it will get better in a couple of days.

  3. You have a lot happening all at once, but the most likely cause of the pain is the braces. It is common and usually takes about three days until it doesn't bother you anymore. The bump is probably from some bleeding that will eventually be absorbed.

  4. if your saying you have a bump were a tooth was pulled maybe you could have a infection or a ulcer may have appeared due to an infection use bonjela to ease the pain and it also helps ulcers i know toothache is really painful i was in tears with it a few week ago i dont know much about braces but they will be pulling on your teeth i guess maybe make an emergancy visit to the dentist tell him about the bump and the braces they may have over tightened them tell him about the pain he may prescribe pain killers for you
