I've actually never heard this name, it's unique. I like it for a boys name. I think if it were for a girl, I'd go with Iris or Isis.

It's a little too strange for my taste.   I'd use it for a girl, but not a boy.  How about Carys?  It's a Welsh girl's name.

I like it. I would probably use it for a boy. It just sounds more masculine to me.

Also, the first time I ever heard the name was in a story about a giant named Idris, so it makes me think of the Giant who was male.
