Question:

What do you think happened to my leg?

Last November I was at a baton competition and I was doing my right splits (stretching). And my splits were fully done, like all the way down, just maybe a couple of centimeters of room to push down more. So when I was in my splits I guess I pushed a tiny bit too much because all of a sudden I heard a crack, and I fell out of my splits. Then I couldn't do very much (like I wasn't able to compete or anything). I'm not sure if I pulled something or what. The area that hurt is around my inner right thigh. Does anyone know what I could have possibly done?

Oh and now, 9 months later I'm still afraid to try and do my right splits. Also when ever I stretch in a left lung or lean to my left side, my inner right side area cracks. It's definitely not the same crack as back in November, but simply like cracking your fingers (except a little louder).

Also I didn't ever go to see a doctor, because my mom said they wouldn't be able to do anything. And right now it's obviously too late.

  1. Oh your mom was oh so wrong and she may have caused you permanant damage.  You could have torn a muscle and by not seeing a doctor and going to the ER, if it doesn't heal properly or at all, then the damage is done.  You should have seen someone and then done physical therapy afterward to regain the flexibility.  You're right - it's too late.  You could try seeing a doctor now but there's a good chance that they might not be able to do anything for you - it's worth a shot, though.

  2. Wow...I can't believe as an athlete (or just as her daughter and for your well-being) your mom wouldn't take you to the doc. Even just to look at it.

I would still go. It is possible that whatever damage you did then may cause you problems in the future but at least if you go to the doc you may know what problems those might be and what happened to your leg.

    Take care hon.
