What do you think in your opinion are the possible causes for INDIA's poor performance at Olympics ?

Though we've to congratulate the few who won medals for INDIA, we have to fell ashamed for the very poor performance at the Olympics. Firstly we don't even have representation for many of the events. Our schools and colleges are promoting sports activities quiet well. But we seem to be not delivering at the international events.

Is this due to inference from politics, funding for sports during budgetting, facilitites and equipments not to international standard, training and coaches not to international standard.

Basically, what are the most significant factors that we need to tweek to expect lot better results (top 10 in the medal tally) at the next olympics.

Compared to the past performances India performed well in this Olympics-2008. So many entered upto Quarter Finals & they lost - It happened due to their bad luck - But We must appreciate the Shooter Who brought India Gold Medal after 108 years in individual category & in wrestling he fought upto his maximum effort & brought bronze medal & in Boxing Vijender went upto semifinal its his bad luck that he cannot reach upto final. Over all its good performance and good history started for India in Olympics.

Maybe, they are good but other athletes are faster and better, they need to find a 7 foot giant to be in your Basketball team! It would be difficult for them to finish in the top 10, because you need to win about at least 10 golds to do that!

Do you know the number of Person cheering for Indian players. No one cares who is playing for india. It is just Cricket Indians look upon.

I think today's new generation want to earn money and luxurious life and fulfill this they are considering towards IT sector and their own businesses. Sports is just for entertainment not popular or taken desperately. There are lack of support, facilities, encouragement and many more things which affect mentality of youngster.

Simple. People make the team because of who they know and not because of how good they are.

Corruption has to be completely weeded out for India to be competitive. I'm sure in China, if you are talented, you get the full resources of the country behind you. If you don't have the talent, you don't go anywhere. That's why they won 51 golds.
