I love this game. The first time I played the game was when I bought the local paper two weeks ago. Read it and stumbled onto the game. I played it. It took me about less than 2 hours to complete. Then thought to myself it was a pretty simple game. Bought the paper again the following week and played again. This time it took me 25 minutes with the game having a 4 star difficulty level.

  1. That depends on the difficulty level of the puzzle.  If you continue to do the puzzles, you will probably be completing them in less than 10 minutes before long - you will get faster with practice.  I'm a sudoku fan too.  Congratulations on such a quick improvement in your time,by the way.  Have you had a look at some of the websites that discuss the different strategies?  There are many strategies other than the one about writing all the possible numbers in the squares.  I have been addicted for more than two years now, and I like to try the hardest puzzles.  I have a book of puzzles where each puzzle is actually 5 interlinked sudoku puzzles - one in the middle, and four others interlocking with it, one at each corner.  That is a good challenge.  I recently found a new version called Scrabble Sudoku, which is a 7 x 7 square, with 7 irregularly shaped sections.  Instead of numbers  you use letters, and the 7 letters make a word.  It is actually more difficult than regular sudoku, especially when you first start it.  Here are a couple of links with strategies.  Have fun.

  2. Everybody is different, beat your own times.

  3. The only problem with doing them from a newspaper, is that the print is fairly small.  If you like Sudoku as much as I do, get the books full of them.  Usually they have larger print, giving more room for figuring out the harder ones, if not for the clarity.  On a 4 star rating, it took me about 10 minutes, in a loud crowded bus.  25 minutes is a fairly decent time for someone just starting out, much improved over your previous 2 hour mark.  Keep at it, it only gets easier.
