  1. where i live its 16. its the law that you can get it at that age

  2. Permit at 16, full license at 17 w/ driver's education, or 18 without drivers ed.  That's whats the rules are in NY, and what I had to follow when I got my license.  It gives people an incentive(having the license a year earlier) to become better behind the wheel by taking driver's ed.  Delaying people getting their license beyond 18 is not feasible due to this country's lack of public transportation and dependence on the automobile.  People need to get to work, and in most areas getting the car is the only option.

  3. It all depends on the individual..  Some people are never ready. Some real young.   The law says 16.   In most cases that is a good age.

  4. 18, 15 and 16 is way to young to know the responsibility of just what driving a car means.

  5. im getting mine at 16 represent losdfjklb;gfhmkl;gsml;kh

  6. 16 because at that age they are going to start maturing and needing more freedom, and learning more responsibility

Also, they may need a job

  7. I say 17.  Because it gives him/her time to mature a little more.

  8. 16-17. i believe that a kid should have a job by the age of 17 and i know that most kids parents wont be able to drive them back and from work all the time, therefore.... drivers license

  9. 21.

  10. I would say 20. Much to the disdain of others around my i would sai 20 would be an appropriate age to get a driver's liscence because most of the teens of today are reckless. At 20,that person would have more reason, knowledge, and expierence with which to use on the road.

  11. Whatever the legal age is in the given area.

  12. 13 cuz i want mine right now

  13. 15 cuz i got ppl to see and places to go

  14. 17.5-18,

ANY YOUNGER A PERMIT 2 DRIVE W/ ADULT

  15. 15 because at that age you have the ability to think on your own and know how to act in any situation on your own. If this 15 year old can pass the drivers test then they should be able to drive.

  16. 18, and up. Statistics say most accidents are from the young drivers bracket.

  17. 16.  I got my license the day I turned 16.  I followed all of the rules about not driving friends for 6 months, and drove with a permit for 6 months. At 16, most are mature enough to drive responsibly.  At ANY age a kid gets his license then he is going to be excited and show off... Putting the driving age at 18 will only make people rebel and drive without a license.

  18. 16 cuz i wanna get laid and party

  19. 16... because that's when the majority of people in the government have agreed that a person is mature enough to drive on their own. I got mine and I am a very careful driver.

Unfortunately, some people are just bad/careless drivers, but I don't believe their age has anything to do with it---just their attitude.

  20. I think 16 is a good age... if you wait any later then kids will never have the chance to be responsible before they leave for college. It also takes a little  bit of pressure off the parents as far as running their kids to practices and so on.

  21. It depends on the driving conditions in the area. Some rural states have low driving ages, even as low as 14 in the planes where you can see where you're going for a very long way in any direction. A more dense state like New York (where I live) requires you to be 16 in most of the state and 17 in New York City (where I live) because driving is a lot crazier here (d**n New Jersey drivers! ;-), those are the ages with driver's ed, it's a year older without.)

I think those ages often make sense in the context. You've got to balance a person's being mature enough to drive with the utility of driving for the person and keeping in mind that it is a good thing for young people to get used to driving while still partially supervised by their parents, before it becomes a daily necessity.

So I don't think there's any one answer, but after debate in each state, I think they tend to know the local conditions best and arrive at roughly the right numbers.

  22. 21

before that, they are too immature and cause accidents.

  23. I think it all depends on their maturity level and how confident they will be with driving. I didnt get my driver's license until I was 18 because I didnt think I would be mature enough to have that much responsibility until then.. but it is different for each person.

  24. At least 21 so that by then some of the TOO FAST TOO FURIOUS mentality brigade was woken up to themselves.

  25. sixteen...

it's more easier to learn how to drive as a teenager as compared to when you're an adult

  26. 16, but from what I see from drivers on the road 25 might be better. When school's out every other person driving is on their phone. Can you believe that. These kids can barely drive as it is, and they can't wait till they stop to tell their BFG, th4t, OMG did you see cindi, LOL.

  27. 18 'cause i'm sick of all the 16 and 17 year olds ramming  into parked cars and poles. i'm not saying all of them are guilty of it, but it's a very common generalization that happens to be very true.

  28. Age shouldn't be as much of a factor as it is. you need to be able to reach the pedals.

I say once you are over 15 it should be based on skills and not a number.

I know that we need to use age to decide a voting, drinking, driving and marriage threshold. But it shouldn't be based on age alone.

I know people who are 13 that drive better than some adults.

I also know people who are 16 that know more about politics than a lot of adults.

(I probably shouldn't have put drinking and driving so close in the same sentence  :)

  29. get your permit at 16 and get your license at 17, cause its not too old, not too young

  30. 17 with restrictions on passengers and hours of operation.

Because to many kids are dying

  31. 18, that age is even a bit immature. the number of drivers under the age of eighteen who get into accidents is enormous. a few years of maturity makes a big diffrence
