I have applied for two faculties in a university as an international student for graduate studies. But only one of them have processed my application yet and has contacted me about admission and also has asked me to notify them "within a week" about my decision that whether I want to accept their admission or offer not.

On the other hand I have conctacted the other faculty too and they have said they still haven't processed my application. I like to hear about the second faculty more but I also want to have this offer as the second faculty has not processed my application yet but I am waiting for that one too.

It is noted in the university website that if one accepts an offer of one application, the other offers will be canceled.

Can I ask the first faculty by e-mail to extend their one week to two or three weeks so that I would get the result of the second faculty too? And if so how can I ask this in a good way?

  1. Re doing it in a good way, just be honest and factual and explain you are waiting on another application being processed!
