In 20 years I don't think there will be six religions left because of the move towards ecumenicalism.  I think there will be one:  The religion the world leader tells you to follow.  I don't know what he will call it, but it will be similar to Obama-ism.

How far into the future?

If we are to surivive as a species then they must all evolve.They all must change there metaphor to start to reach the human heart. the old symbols dont work  all that is left is  dogma ritual and the worship of  books.

Secular/nonreligious agnostic athiest will not work they just replace the trancendent that the human brain is wired for with the worship of stuff., We dont have enough planet for that.,

Fundementalist religions will destroy the earth before we can save it,

Any religion that is specific to a particular culture will not reach around the world.

They will all be here excluding fundementalist athiest, fundementalist christians and Fundementalist Islam they are the ones who will destroy the world before we have a future.

Islam: 1.5 billion

Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist: 1.1 billion

Hinduism: 900 million

Chinese traditional religion: 394 million

Buddhism: 376 million

I think there's going to be an outburst in the number of Baha'is.

With countries such as England (or Great Britain) and America taking in a multi-cultural society, I think we'll see numbers rise and fall if not combine to form a new religion
