What do you think is going to make the DC Metro's 7000 series coming up?

Do you think it's Alstom. I hope it isn't CAF. They made the 5000 series. Those things been derailing.

  1. I believe Metro went back to Alstom for the 7000 series.

  2. Alstom is scheduled to complete delivery of the remaining 6000-series cars by Spring 2008 (ref 1).  WMATA refers to an "executive partnering" arrangement w/ Alstom.  Alstom is currently involved in rebuilding of the 2000/3000 series cars.

    WMATA expects to select the manufacturer for the 7000-series cars in the summer of 2007. (ref 2)

    It looks like WMATA is learning that you can't just buy from the low bidder and you have to build relationships w/ suppliers.  If you're a betting man, Alstom would be a good bet.
