  1. Wakeboarding with a  wakekite.

It's amazing to fly and really get some good air behind a boat.

  2. Kiteboarding, for me.  Reasons:

    - On your feet the whole time.  No downtime spent paddling or waiting for a wave.

    - Kiteboarders relate to each other like surfers did in the 50's and 60's.  We do not get territorial and greedy like surfers in crowded areas do.  Wind is essentially free for all, most waves can only be ridden by 2 riders at a time.

    - Big air.

    - Powered transitions, tricks, jumps.  Being powered rocks.

    - Powered sessions in crappy waves are still fun.

    - Being able to jump over waves instead of duck-diving them.

    - Can go for long journeys, crossings, downwinders.

    - So many disciplines: racing, freestyle, old-school, kitesurfing, kickers, cruising, landboarding, snowkiting.

    - You can do it anywhere there is wind and water, including lakes, sounds, lagoons, bays, rivers.

The best thing about surfing is:

    - Simple equipment, being untethered to anything but your board.  No rigging/derigging, changing kite sizes/lines.

    - You can ride a wave in a pure manner without having the kite try and pull you off.

    - Easy access.  Everywhere in California allows surfing for the most part, kiteboarding access is very limited.

    - Getting tubed.  You can pretty much rule that out with a kite unless you are insanely good.
