What do you think is the BESTkind of pad that is butterfly style, and is around the size"31 inches?

Well im playing goalie and my style in butterfly but Which pad Brand well work best for that style? and also in the size "31, thats a hard to find size too :S.

Vaughn Velocity v3 if your looking to fork up some major cash there really comfortable in the butterfly and has a great weight and is extremly durable.

A lot of it is about personal preference and what you find comfortable so if you can try on a bunch of types you should.

Most brands these days are all designed for the butterfly style since it is by far the most dominant style of play for goalies.



And yes Vaughn tends to be the best quality goaltender equipment maker.... and the most expensive.

If you're looking at pro-level pads, just about every company has a competetive pad. I would reccommend trying as many on as you can. I know at some stores they carry demos that you can use for a day or two to see what you like. I use the Bauer Supreme Pro Special Editions. The same model that Khabibulin uses. I really like the feel and they have held up well. I've also heard great things about the TPS R8's that Ludqvist uses, and some of the Itech stuff like what Osgood uses. If you're into a lower budget catergory, Sherwood has a lightweight butterfly pad, or you could check out the Eagle Sentry's. Also, Mission makes decent quality gear very cheap. What is your budget? I suggest going with the RBK Premier series, as there are a lot of price points, if you are willing to spend though I suggest the TPS R8, perfect pad for a pure butterfly goalie. What level of hockey do you play? You should consider how much you play when buying pads, because I don't think that you want to spend $1,000 if you only play once or twice a week. If you play on a high level travel team, be willing to invest for the long-run by getting what is right for you.

For a decent price you should go with Goalie Monkey's Koho 700 series, a great pad at a decent price. As for the sizing, don't go with 31", you should get 32", they will last longer. The good thing about the Koho's is that they come in 32" in junior sizing, which means that it costs way less ($200 less). If you really want 31", order custom pads. It will cost more, but it will definitley feel best.
