There are a lot of cow's milk brands coming out of the market nowadays. Any advice on what's the best brand I should give to my child. Or anything proven to be best introductory milk after breastmilk and formula.

  2. Personally, I really love Braum's milk.

  3. Meyenberg Goat Milk.  Very digestible, the least allergic.

  4. I think every gallon of milk is the same. The important thing is that you need to give him whole milk, the only difference with the brands are the prices. The store brands are the cheapest.

  5. Whole milk definitely.  Children need the fats and amino acids in whole milk for proper growth and development.  I highly reccommend organic milk that doesn't contain any hormones.  It's worth the extra cost.

  6. I have heard many things about formulas. I found that I like Good-Start. I used it as a supplement while breast feeding. Good-Start burps and bowel movements were the same as the breast milk. I was given similac once and it made my daughters breath and bowel movement soo stinky and yucky made me hurl. I used Enfinmil also it worked just fine. I also used some others and they seemed okay. I overheard someone say that a doc felt that babies on good-start were underweight. My kids were small from the beginning. All babies in my family are small. Who is to say otherwise when over half of america is overweight.

    If I didn't get WIC I would always use/buy Good-Start.

  7. All dairy milk comes from cows.  They all have the same ingredients, they are all processed the same way.  There is no "best" brand, other than what people prefer.  No one in my family drinks dairy milk.

  8. Yeah sure, all milk comes from cows, but farming practices have a big impact on the quality milk you're getting (not to mention the community, and the environment).  Personally, I would go with this company:

Its available at many grocers (including Walmart)

There is no "official" reccomendation for introducing cows milk in the second year other than the reccomendation that it be whole.  That's just my brand of choice for many reasons.

    edit

Bigblue:  You are right that cow's milk isn't "necisary" for children, but in the second year of life, if not being breastfed, children are supposed to receive whole milk for brain development purposes.  After that year there are other ways to get the nutrients.

  9. Braum's.

  10. I love Horizon milk...it's sooo yummy

  11. i'm lactose,sorry

  12. Organic raw milk from a nearby farm.  I love that I know the cows that make my milk.

We had allergy/eczema issues before we switched, but they've cleared up since we switched to raw milk.  No more constipation, diarrhea, or tummy aches after breakfast now!

  13. You just want any hormone free brand of whole milk, preferably organic.

  14. I seriously don't think that kids should drink cow's milk. Cow's milk is genetically designed for cow's. I'm not saying never drink it, but only in moderation. Just do a little research about cow milk online before feeding gallons of it to your child.
