  1. My favorite is the Glock Model 30.  Big enough to fit my hands well, small enough to conceal in my pants pocket when I'm wearing baggy jeans, and it packs 10+1 .45acp rounds.  Its pretty accurate and has never jammed on me, unlike all other semi-autos I've fired.

Its also pretty tough, I've had one for about a decade and it still looks almost new.

I once cleaned it and a .38 smith and wesson with water.  The blued revolver got rusty and needed oiling before its cylinder would rotate.  The Glock was unaffected by getting wet.

  2. M1911A2.  Followed by the m1911A1.

It is the most proven, most effective handgun ever made.  Millions made, billions of rounds discharged, millions of enemy soldiers killed.  Starred in every major war since the first big one.

  3. Ruger .22 caliber.  Cheap to shoot and can whack squirells and rabbits

Anything bigger is for shootin people and I don't want to eat them.

  4. HK Mk.23 Socom .45

With out a doubt, the best tactical sidearm ever made.

  5. Sig 210, they are the swiss watches of handguns, and the price tag reflects this fact

  6. there is not just one overall choice.it all depends on what the gun will be used for.as a police officer we used glocks. large magazines and hard as hel_ to break.very accurate and easy to clean in the field.i have never paid any attention to brands. everyone will say their favorite is the best.the colt government models are great but costly.two years ago i got a springfield 1911 a-1. i got the loaded model. can be had for a fair price.the only draw back for the 45 is that the mags only hold 7-8 rounds.as a retired officer i went to the range earlier this year. as a retired officer we can still carry as long as we can pass at the range..i took my 45 to the range and had never fired it prior to this. we had to shoot 50 rounds out to 25 yards. 25 yards looks like a mile with a auto. anyway i shot 100 out of a possible 100.i put 47 out of 50 in a area the size of a small envelope.most accurate gun i have ever fired.never settle on your first choice. she as mant kindsd as possible so you will know what fits you best. if you ever want to see a pic of my range target send me your email. i will take a pic with my phone and send it to you.

  7. Two (2*) of them as far as I am concerned.* The Colt Combat Commander in 45 acp, and the Ruger Mark III 22/45 Target Model.*

  8. I like the .50 Caliber Desert Eagle.

I don't know my guns well I just test them and what ever makes the biggest holes on file cabinets, walls, etc. I will take like any 12 Gauge Shotgun

  9. The one that fits your and hand and you shoot the most accurately.

There is no one answer. Hit the rental range and find what works best for you.

  10. Glock....No, 1911....no

The answer is anything made by Heckler & Koch

  11. I don't know why the obsession with the DE .50; It weighs more than some rifles. Its ballistics are far-eclipsed by the .44 magnum.

For the cost you could get a brand new sig sauer or two.

I own a glock 23, which is easy to maintain, light, and possesses convincing power less than two pounds. That desert eagle would nearly pull your pants around your ankles if ever worn in a hip holster.

My next pistol would be a revolver but if I ever buy another semi auto it would be the P226.

Did you know Sig pistols rank number one in torture tests?

  12. Especially if the pricetag is no object, the .45ACP H-K USP is about your best choice.

Rather than deal with amateur opinions, I have found that the professional evaluators, both commercial and independent, have given a slight edge to the H-K pistols, from tests run by evaluators from such sources as Guns & Ammo, American Handgunner, and Gun Tests magazines.

In such tests, the H-K USP models had fewer malfunctions and NO (0) failures when tested against, not only the Sig-Sauer, but Beretta, Springfield, and S&W models, as well.

I've run nearly 5,000 rounds through my H-K USP .45ACP, including Hydra-Shok, Cor-Bon, and several equivilent custom handloads, with 0 stoppages EVER, and it's tolerances haven't measureably changed since I first aquired it.

Know also that I carry my USP .45 in 'Condition One' (c0cked & locked) with a round chambered, just as safely as one can with the 1911.

The only negative factors I've dealt with carrying the USP, inherrent in the SOCOM, as well, is it's larger size, but I'm a larger guy and LIKE the more impressive size, and the limited availability of carry systems, but I carry concealed in my own unorthodox manner, anyway.

  13. L.A.R. Grizzly Mark I 6.5"  barrel .45 Winchester Magnum. My favorite, and the favorite of many others.

  14. I am not a huge fan of the flatguns.  And I'm not wild about the high-capacity DA pistols either.

When it comes to flatguns, I have three.

One is a Colt Stainless Officers' ACP in .45 ACP.  On the rare occasions I carry it, I carry it c-o-c-ked and locked.

The other two are Iver Johnson TP-22's.  Don't laugh, those little buggers are 100% reliable with good ammo, and will pop soda cans out to 50 yards.

If I were going to get a DA pistol, I'd probably spring for either a SIG P-220 in .45 ACP, or a Taurus PT-92.

    Doc

  15. M1911A1 .45ACP, hands down.

But I carry a SW M&P40 compact, for concealment and caliber choice.

But, all this is considering their applications, especially that second one, where its application is in MY holster. Someone else may be better served with another.

DE's are show pistols. No one carries them, few even fire them more than a few times per year. They are huge, heavy, uncomfortable, utterly unconcealable, and innaccurate, not to mention chambered in a ridiculous cartridge that would make you look like a freak if you ever used it in self defense. There are exactly two types of people drawn to them: people who simply like militaria, novel gun design, etc, and the majority of folks who know little more than that they go BOOM.

  16. everyone is going to have their own opinion of what is the best...I like my Glocks I have a Glock 17 and 30, 17 is nice cause it has a clip that will double stack and hold 17 9mm (that's a lot of lives in a clip) then the 30 is a double stack (wide grip) that holds 10/.45 autos which isn't bad for the size of the bullet either, it is a little heavier than the 9mm, but I do like them they are reliable. It also depends on how much you want to spend, like I am perfectly content with dropping $1300 on a new desert eagle .50cal and that will be my next purchase.

  17. The Wilson Combat 1911A1 type .45ACP

    Smooth, Accurate, Professional Quality.

    Not cheap by any means,

but you get what you pay for.
