  1. Hands down.. The sides are too low! Litter gets shot out everywhere plus the price is ridiculous. A good covered box or one with high sides can cost $20+!!!

I buy cheap rubbermaid totes and either cut out a hole in the side or lid. They cost about 6-10 dollars the sides are higher, and they can be covered or uncovered when you want(or when your cat wants!) Another thing I hate about litter boxes you buy at the store is the fact that they are generally too small I mean I have one box and literally it's retarded I only use it for my tiny foster kittens because there is no way a full grown cat can use it without missing..

For price, convenience and functionality.. Rubbermaid or similar totes are the way to go. My cats love the clear ones so they can see whats going on while they do their duty but still feel hidden. Plus I don't get litter all over the floor, and it's easier to scoop with higher sides as well... http://www.organize-it-online.com/images...

  2. Its really hard to determine why a cat is not using a litter box. You have to ask yourself a lot of questions.

Is it because the litter box smells bad?

Does your cat have problems itself?

Does your cat not like the litter?

Does your cat not like the litter box?

If you have a tray liner then is your cat not using the litter box because of the tray liner?

So yeah, you have to find out a lot of things for yourself.

  3. I think the main problem with cat litter boxes is that people don't clean them often enough, then they complain about them. Let's get scooping, people!  :-)

  4. the height. when they scratch the litter just goes over the sides. unless of course you have an enclosed one. but..i recently found a height extender which attaches right onto the box..and it really helped.

  5. the sand that comes out of the box from the bottom of cat's paws.

  6. I actually have a few.

1.) Need a lid to keep the litter from spilling everywhere.

2.) Litter is still dragged out by the paws.

3.) Costs a lot to keep that thing filled.

    4.) Smells bad.

My number one complaint though is that it takes up so much room!!!  The more cats you have, the more p**p boxes you need!!!

I'd teach my cat to use the toilet, but the guy thinks it is a water dish, so that won't work.  Gotta keep the lid down.

  7. If your talking about the open litter boxes=Litter being spilt everywhere and walked threw the house.

The thing i like about the covered litter trays such as the CAT dome, is they don't spill over the side!  and the smell is defiantly reduce.
