Question of opinion. What do you think is the most fascinating, unbelievable thing that exists?

Personally I think it is sister molecules (a form of quantum entanglement) is one of the most fascinating. These are 2 particles that are somehow linked together through certain characteristics, like angle of spin. No matter how far apart they are, if you change one particle's spin, the other's spin changes almost instantaneously, faster than the speed of light. This shows that there is some type of information out there that can travel at speeds faster-than-light. Which leads me to think: Our race might get so advanced that it can manipulate these forces, and maybe learn how to travel faster-than-light. If we can achieve that, life will get a lot more interesting.

Tell us what you think is the most fascinating phenomenon that exists, and describe it please.

  1. I agree that sister molecules are very fascinating.  However, I'd have to say that the supermasic black hole in the center of our galaxy is more fascinating to me.

  2. me... hahahah im sorry i just HAD to!

ok ok seriously now.. im not all that scientific... but i think that in itself ... life .. all the different types of life that coexists ... how the earth is at the perfect distance from the sun in order to maintain life...

black holes yes.. wow.. mind boggling!

  3. Life

  4. Yes this relationship between electrons is amazing! I am fascinated by neutron stars. They might only have a diameter of a  large city, yet  one cupfull of material in this star has a mass greater than the collective weight of all the humans on Earth! Also, the magnetic field strength around a Neutron star would scramble the cells in our body if ever we got near! Also, some neutron stars (pulsars) spin faster than a Tazmanian Devil!!!  Pretty cool stuff.

  5. The sister molecule thing is quite amazing but that can be studied. Whats most fascinating to me is Dark Matter. Just to find out what the f*** it is to me is clearly the winner.

A close second to me is the shear amount of Stars that are in the Universe- Amazing to think of those truly astronomical numbers and then still look at how much empty space is out there- absolutely incredible.

  6. Well I personally can't think of anything more interesting than entanglement.

Another fascinating phenomenon is that of "dark energy/matter," the current explanation for the inability of scientists to account for the momentum of planets across the universe.  Gravity is the only force we know of that acts in outer space at long distances, and it alone does not account for what is happening with galaxies.  So instead scientists say that there must be matter we cannot see!
