What do you think is the most popular genere of music and why?

im doing some reserch for class, i wanted some opinions on whats opoular in to days music and why?

Pop I suppose, seeing as its name was derived from "popular" =) However, that's quite a broad genre. I'd say rock and hip-hop are two of the most popular genres of today.

Take a look at the Billboard charts, particularly the Hot 100 and Pop 100. You'll get a good idea of what's popular today (based on the US, of course).

Judging from a lot of what I see on P/S, my guess would be insipid teeny-bopper pop.
