What do you think is the problem for canada in the Olympics?

i thought Brent /Hayden did exceptionally well in swimming. But I hope they get a medal soon.

To all the people who say that we do badly in the summer because we are too hockey obsessed, please consider this: CANADA FAILED TO MEDAL IN MEN&#039;S HOCKEY IN TWO OF THE PAST THREE WINTER OLYMPICS.

It may be true that hockey is the only sport we care about, but we can&#039;t even do consistently well in that!

:) I do think we should be getting some medals though...

Maybe we aren&#039;t training hard enough or sending the right athletes.. or people are just better. I don&#039;t knoww :(

well i think they actually have one medal.

It is kinda a dissapointment,since im American,but i was rooting for Canada as my second team.

But hey they dont suck,they just arent the best,and i guess you have to win to be the best.

So dont worry,im sure they will eventually get some medals.

For now all I can say is good luck Canada :D

Greece did not start the olympics on slush.

Although it is disappointing that we don&#039;t have any medals yet, I think part of the problem is our unrealistic expectations. We believe that we are not doing well because we look over at our neighbours, who have somewhere close to 30 medals. But we&#039;ve got to stop comparing ourselves to them. Canada has a much smaller population and unfortunately, our athletes just don&#039;t get the funding they need to succeed. Yes, I know this can be seen as an excuse, but funding really does make a difference, and most of the Canadian athletes don&#039;t get the chance to be athletes full-time. They need to work other jobs just to stay afloat.

In terms of these Olympics, even though we haven&#039;t won any medals, I still believe that we are doing well. We need to look at the progress that has been made. It has been a while since we&#039;ve had some good swimmers and at these games, we&#039;ve made many finals and a lot of national records have been set. A lot of the swimmers have placed 5th or 6th. That&#039;s a definite improvement. I could list all of the sports but that will take too long.

The point is, even though medals are important, so is progress. We have to support our athletes and be proud of their accomplishments. We also need to fight for more funding. Many Canadian athletes only get funded once they&#039;ve won a medal... well how are they supposed to win without funding?!

How about the fact that we just dont fund enough athletes training? I know that we didnt even send over a full weight lifting team because it wasnt in the budget. Canadas too busy sending troops to a war that doesnt need to be fought then to send some peacefull olympians to the olympics. Pffft. I wish I hadnt read this question. Its sad that we are so cheap.
