  1. Government exists to prevent you from causing me harm (i.e. murder, theft, fraud) or subjecting me to eminent danger (i.e. drunk driving). Anything more than that Is an unconstitutional and immoral violation of the sovereign rights of the people. The government should never be empowered to do that which the individual cannot do himself without committing an unjust or immoral act. For example I have the right to prevent you from robbing me, even to the point of using lethal force. Because I have that right as an individual I also have the power to assign to government the authority to enforce and guarantee my right.  I do not however have the right to take your money even if I am truly in need. Even if I organized a hundred of my friends to help me take your money it would still be an unjust and immoral act. So I therefore have no power to assign to government the authority to do so on my behalf. This is the core of the differences between the Left and the Right.
