What do you think is the reason we have rude teenagers?

I have noticed through my years of life that more and more teenagers like myself are becoming rude, drug addicts, and seem not to have any moral standards. What do you think makes these children become gang members later in life or even bad parents.When did we turn into this bowl of mass destruction that eats us up from the inside out?

I fully agree with alli1661. Parenting has changed over the last 30 or so years. Back in the day, the parent would side with the teacher in a schoolyard incident but today it's much different. Back in the same day, children were raised by mom AND dad but today only a handful of children grow up with both parents. What happened? Liberalism and the PC police.

were not rude people are judging by looks! we aint all gang members and some are druggys jsut to get by in high school maybe theyr parents drive em crazy

I'm older so I have my own theory on this. I think it started when parents took a step back and tried to be a friend to their children. Children hate boundaries and rules that make no sense at the time, but guess what?  They're needed in a lot of ways.

They set standards, teach morals, and integrity. I'm not interested in being my son's best friend. He tells me a lot that he may not like me at the moment, but he sure does love me. It's not wrong to have your child afraid you'll be disappointed in them. I hate the trend of 'perfect' children who are constantly rewarded  just for breathing.

My son has seen me make a couple of huge mistakes in my life, then apologize for them and tough it out to make things right. Insulating children really does them a disservice in life.

Anyway, just my own thoughts and I'm sure plenty of people will disagree with me, but you asked for opinions =)  Hope this helps.
