I think it's population control. Do others agree? To me everything we do to help the environment is a waste if the worlds population continues to grow at the rate it's growing. I've decided I want to have only one child and then adopt if I want anymore. To me that's being part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

  1. willingness

  2. well, people die nearly every five seconds, so i would'nt consider it to be population. i think it is too much riding non enviromentally friendly cars. also peolple think if they throw the smallest piece of trash on the ground, it won't matter, but it does. it starts to build up, which means it could not only pollute, but kill animals who try to eat it.

  3. Yep, I agree too. It's a difficult nut to crack, though. The doom mongers say that if the oil runs out the global population will soon revert back to pre-industrial levels which kind of makes sense but it seems pretty scary to me.

  4. Absolutely correct.  Overpopulation is the root cause of most of our social and environmental problems today.  There is an excellent mathematics lecture in 9 parts (it's long) on YouTube regarding population growth rates and how seemingly small numbers become large quickly in an exponential function (the "Rule of 72").

I was going to provide the link but YouTube appears to be down at the moment.  I will edit this Y!A later or you can search for "Most Important Video Ever" on YouTube.

  5. that is true....lets face it we have to begin taking steps towards colonization of other planets...it is going to take us hundreds of years to achieve it so we must begin now....any day a super-virus could mutate and destroy all of us, or an asteroid could strike our planet and what defense would we have?  if the time comes when we spot an asteroid that is going to hit us in 50 years, we will not have near enough time to evacuate and relocate to continue the existence of the human race....unfortunately i fear that we are doomed to the fate of the dinosaurs

  6. No I think its fossil fuels and industries dumping its waste in our lakes, rivers and oceans.

  7. the death of all humans on earth?  At least thats what the environmentalists want.
