My local cinema has closed down, so i haven`t been for a while.

I loved a box of popcorn, a tub of Haagen Daaz and a coke in a plastic cup with a straw. Not that i ever felt i bothered anyone with it.

People talking all through the film in the row behind tended to bother me more!! And, i always did any snogging discreetly. Lol.

Is this taking snobbiness too far. What are your views?

  1. What rubbish. I'm a popcorn, coke, and a quick grope type of guy. :)

  2. Eating popcorn out of a burberry cap.

  3. Popcorn is part of going to the movies.....mind you it is an American idea which travelled all over the world..

I think chewing gum should be banned,,,it is stuck on seats, carpets & footpaths.

At least popcorn goes up a vacuum cleaner.

I'd rather watch a movie [dvd] at home, can stop for coffee breaks & eat what we like.

  4. That guy is just a pathetic snob.  The only people who will go to see his godawful "art house" films are tedious pretentious bores like my ex-hubby.

Everyone else will avoid his s****. establishment like the plague.

Lets hope for his sake there are plenty of snobs living nearby or he'll go out of business.

I always have popcorn + a large coke when we go to the cinema, which isn't very often these days because its got so expensive.

  5. It costs more to go the cinema than it does for a meal out!

Seriously you need to take out a loan just for one night there

    definitely not chavvy at all

  6. I think that eating popcorn at the pictures is a tradition, a bit of a treat.  On top of that, the company must make a fortune, the prices they charge.

I do, however, object to people who drop popcorn everywhere, and leave all their junk behind after leaving.

Of more annoyance is those who insist on talking, using a mobile 'phone or putting feet on the seat in front.

  7. I read this in another newspaper, but it wasn't because popcorn was too "chavvy" - it was because it smelled like ..well, popcorn, and was noisy and messy.

I've got far more problems with people who eat wrapped sweets - I'd rather have popcorn anyday, than someone sitting next to me, unwrapping toffees all through the movie.

  8. With GC on this and think they have a feckin cheek! Wonder what he would suggest instead? no doubt something that will double the price... You'd think he would be glad people are bothering what with the TV screens you can get now! Mmm popcorn fed me now.:)

  9. Yet another example of our countries traditions being trampled upon.

  10. What a load of c**p. I went to the cinema last night. SHOCK HORROR I also had popcorn. Nobody in there was throwing it! My other half had a hotdog, surely if anything that is lower class than blimmin popcorn?!

EDIT: GC Speaks the truth, the whole night last night cost us £35!

  11. To answer the question , did you take your staffy with you you know the one with the studded collar, that's just a bit to chavy, so is putting on every gold chain ever brought you or putting every ear ring you own in your ears, don't forget to polish all your tattoo's and show them off, now that's a chavy night out,

  12. they hate anything remotely chav in this country, pop corn is pop corn and you can go to the cinema without it

  13. Well he is right in that popcorn does stink - but Nachos are FAR more noisy - crunch crunch crunch

  14. Wouldn't be the same without popcorn. It's the only time I'd ever eat it too.

  15. I just despair at the Uk .......What next?.....

  16. the cost of popcorn always annoys me. The kids always want it too. It's over 4 quid. And it only costs pence to make bucket loads. It's not chavvy. I don't know why they're trying to put people off. The cinema makes a fortune from it.
