both my kids teachers say my 2 kids have a gift cos they can read a book only 2 or 3 times and theyve memorized it..is this really clever?..

just wondered what other people thought, thanx

yes,it is.Your kids will have great success in their lives if they keep going the way they are.My daughter has the same ability,she can read a book once and has memorised it.She's reading a 16 page stage 4 book and is only going into primary 2.

Its Generally Known As A Photographic Memory, This Is A Great Gift, It Will Help Them Loads As They Get Older And Have To Do Questions On A Book They Have Red.

that is good if they could memorize it than they have good memory and can keep things in there head prety good so id say yea its a gift cuz i dont think many kids now a days do that

Well my daughter turned 2 in march and If you read her a short story she can read it back to you.

She will even remember it a couple of weeks later.

I am not sure whether this is clever or normal.

It means they are intelligent. My daughter can do the same thing and she has excelled at school.

an exceptional memory can be an indicator of a gifted child.  however, the ability to memorize books after just one or two readings can indicate that a child is dyslexic.

dyslexic children are often of above average intelligence but unable to read fluently; they therefore find it much easier to memorize the words in a story book than to read them each time.

It means they have a good memory but it also depends what kind of book you are talking about. Is it a beginner dr. Seuss book? Most kids memorize those type of books fairly quickly. Having a good memory doesn't make them gifted but it will help in the future for tests and things where they need to remember things they've seen.
