What do you think/know about clip on hair extensions?

I want to get hair extensions because my hair is fairly short and I'd love having long hair for once. I want to get the clip on kind but how long do they last for? Are they any good? Any advice on them would be lovely! I am open to any suggestions and comments :) thanks!

My mom has them they are really cool but take a long time to style with hair and all that. I think they last like 3 or 4 years. They are about $200. So yeah I like them but my mom has dark brown hair and I have light brown so it would look weird if I put "em in!

I think they're good! Apparently the Jessica Simpson 1s are supposed to the best & most secure. I think you can both real hair & fake hair in various styles!

if you take care of them i'm sure they will last while. i have small clip in's and they a very nice. for a full set it'd probably cost about $100-$200 by getting it done by a professional. but i don't know if you can put your hair up in a ponytail, without the clips showing. you could have it styled in different ways when its down though.

my sister has them, theyre cheaper if you get them on ebay. and they last like forever and they look real. plus you can dye them if you ever dye your hair

Wouldn't they be hard to maintain? I know my hair goes through h**l and back, what with putting it in ponytails and wearing hats and helmets (I ride horses). I'm just saying you would have to be careful with your fake hair.

the hair is taken from uneducated Indian women by unscrupulous men who then sell it for lots of cash to extension manufacturers, dont buy em

Usually the best kind is what gets sewn into corn rows at the salon.  the clip ons can work too, but they have to be realistic looking, usually made from real hair.

what i know for a fact is that getting them done professionally will benefit you a lot more. if you choose to do them at home, they wont be as reliable will expire sooner. clipping them in yourself turns out being more difficult when your hair is rather thin. you need to be extra cautious and pull on them prior to considering that you're done, to check for strength or looseness. also, swimming with them on isn't a very sensible choice. good luck sweetie.
