I like really interesting stories, that build and build, until it resolves, I don't like boring books, that don't have much of a plot.

Another thing that a book needs to have, is really deep characters, that are human and have flaws, but still have to do something difficult, and because of it, they grow during the story.

I like books that are dark or sad, with bittersweet ending, because I feel like they have more feeling in them, and they feel deeper.

My friends on the other hand, like happy ending, where everything works out, that's fine, but not my favorite.

What kind of book do you like, and what does a book have to have in it, for it to be good? I'm just curious what other people like.

Also, what is your favorite book, and why? (I'm also trying to get suggestions for things to read) Thanks

  1. The thing I look for in a book is originality. I ask myself "have I seen this before?" For characters, well, I like characters that I can relate to. They seem realistic to me, and I learn to care for them and what their outcome may be. "What makes one character different from another?" Without flaws, they're not really characters more as machines that are dull and uninteresting.

  2. i think that what makes a good book is the details that the author gives and i also like books that have deep chapters its just makes it more interesting. my favorite books are the twilight saga, im kinda obsess with those books they just entertain me so much and arent boring at all.

  3. when it had edward cullen in it :D

  4. my faveourite books (at the moment) would have to be...the Georgia Nicolson series by Louisse Rennison, and The Vampire Diaries by L.J.Smith.

I like teen romances. If theres meant to have some comedy in it, then I'll look god the humor, and it will have to be good and funny humor. If it's a thriller, It will have to thrill me out of my pants. It has to have feeling, yes, and needs action.

But most importantly, it has to have a lot of whatever the genre is.

Can you help me out? It's easy peasy. It's about my characters (in my book): http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind... Smanx if you do. If you don't, that's ok, too.

  5. a happy ending

  6. Great question crazy.  I have never been a reader of novels.  Perhaps that comes from being forced to read selected biases from the teachers in high school. In grade school we read d**k and Jane and Dr. Seuss but we weren't really reading then.

I almost didn't receive my HS Diploma because I was about to fail English class simply because I didn't like their choice of genre . I protested and was allowed to write an essay on  the books I had read and vie them against the school boards curriculum. I passed  lol

My mom read all the time. In fact she could read a whole hardcover in one day.  My brother was the same...he would lose himself in it.

I asked him one day about how he could immerse himself into a book  for so long.  He told me to read it and I did....painstakingly .

    an example:

End of Chapter 4:     "What Bill saw enlightened him but with an ominous feeling"

Chapter 5  " The day started with a bit of rain.....blah, blah blah...filler, filler and more filler.

Anyway, enou of the ranting.  to answer your questions..

I prefer the supernatural real or fiction. Yet, my favourite book(s) before they became movies...Alive;  Jaws  Of Mice and Men; The Chrysalids; Flowers for Algernon .

  7. I like animal books. Especially cat ones. A book has to have a main character that I would like and a good plot. My favorite book is The Prodigal Cat. It is a easy level reading book but I still love it and read it every once in a while. It is the story life of a cat. And many conflicts happen that excite me. I also love just info books on cat, dogs, and horses. To me it is very interesting.
