What do you think makes a great artist and why?

how passionate they are towards it, because if there is nothing there then there is no message to present the viewer/audience.

  Thay are able to create art that touches people....connects with people and elicits feelings and emotions.

Music, if they have great lyrics that mean something & if there is a good sound to go with that song. Because that's what fans love!

Recognizing yourself in someone's expression.  Seeing a painting that really makes you want to "jump into it", or hearing a song as if the singer is speaking directly to you...There is no "ONE' great artist because there are so many watchers/listeners/readers, and we all have different life experiences and points of view.  Just sometimes there is an artist who "speaks" to a lot of people who enjoy what he/she is saying. Art is expression, plain and simple.  It is what makes us human.  It is feelings, memories, experiences all rolled up into one piece.
