What do you think makes certain times of day safer to be in the sun?

  1. Think about it...the only thing that is different throughout the daylight hours (other than cloud cover) is the angle that the light is coming at you from the Sun....so it's passing through a longer or shorter slice of atmosphere, which is what attenuates it enough that we can survive.

    So noon is a REALLY bad idea!


  2. The amount and  intensity of the sun's rays.  At nine a.m. there are fewer UV rays beating into your skin than at high noon.  Also, don't let cloudy days fool you.  The clouds intensify UV rays.
