I'm a teacher, and in my opinion the single most important factor in a child's success is parental involvement. But I don't have the power to force every parent to be involved in their child's life. What do you think needs to be done?

  1. I doubt Miss North Carolina would agree with me on this.

Anyway apparently one fifth of Americans can't locate the US on the map, why do you think this is? - I think it is because geographical education is not taught well enough or is not taught at all in schools.

The US needs to invest more money in education because it is the future generation we are talking about. You could try to get parents involved in their child's life. Sorry I didn't really answer your question.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Allow parents to CHOOSE which school their children will attend. This would create competition and force schools to hire competent teachers and offer good programs. Many places in Europe use this kind of system, and it works. If a school is bad, parents will pull out and send their child to another school. The school will have to close down if there aren't enough students. Because we're assigned a school to go to if the school is terrible, there's nothng you can do. Many can't afford to send their children to a private school or move to a better school district. Allowing a choice would be a first step to improving the educational system.
