Personally I find it frustrating with all the ad breaks, and switching to footy over the weekend was ridiculous!!!!!!!!

  1. I don't need to see the same swimming race 8 times! And why was the gymnastics repeated yesterday? Why is it just repeat, repeat, repeat? Highlights are one thing, but why show things repeated in full?

I think it was Matty White who said there are 150 hours of sport each day at the Olympics... Why are they only showing about 5 hours of it repeated over and over again?? Well that's what it feels like anyway...

Anyone interested in watching the horse events should watch them on Danish TV. Sure, the commentators aren't speaking English, but that's still an improvement on the Channel 7 commentary!

Instructions on how to watch it are here:

Let's hope channel 9 does a better job with the 2012 Olympics!!

  2. II’m totally agreed with you! Channel 7 really doing a horrible job now.

Channel 7 has a digital/ analog and three HD channels, why they have the same thing in each and every one of them? Why don’t they have one of those channels broadcasting those sports have Aussie athletes involved and have other channels broadcast others, so audiences could have a choice of witch game they would watch? Even just using one channel, why didn’t Channel 7 delay broadcasting those swimming heats in between 2nd and 3rd quarter of the US vs. Greece?

I understand those ads are very important to free-to air TV, I didn’t mind watching the ads until Channel 7 broadcast this Olympics. The way they have their ads was really unprofessional!

  3. I think it is a disgrace. I have just sat up all night to watch 2 horses doing their dressage test and only one was an Australian. The coverage of the three day event, where Australia won silver was also poorly covered.

  4. not enjoying it, some of the swimming they cut to in the USA Vs Greece basketball didnt even have an australian in it. I love watching the swimming but i dont want to see every single race, in the finals then maybe but in the heats ... no. Then when they showed highlights of that basketball game all the show stopping parts were what we missed.

And to the person above who mentioned Ch7 with the NSL and not showing it, i remember 7 did the same thing to the NBL when it was still a major popular sport (had the rights but televised nothing). Could Australian basketballs popularity decrease in recent years be attributed to this?

  5. I find the coverage annoying, It would be nice to have a sport shown for more then 20 mins without changing to a new one. At least with SBS they will show you one half of soccer. And i think Channel 7 need to realize they don't have to replay something over and over again when an Aussie wins a gold medal. There are so many sports that people only get to see when the Olympics are on. Its a shame we are not seeing them

  6. I think it's pathetic.

I am keen on all the swimming, but tonight I wanted to watch the US v Greece basketball game. All I got to watch was about 15 minutes of that game, some swimming heats and women's hockey. Yawn!

I've only been in Australia for 7 months but I've heard that 7 has an HD channel? Can they not show other sports on it? Can they not pass some of the other sports on to SBS? When I was channel surfing through the multitude of ad breaks I saw that SBS was showing highlights from the Boomers game this morning/arvo!

If there was an Olympics for 'Olympic coverage' I think 7 wouldn't even qualify!

  7. the ad about the columbian weightlifter who kept slipping is of really poor taste... im surprised channel 7 stooped so low to squeeze out a story.. it wasn't funny the first time and there was no way it was funny the last time.

also i was trying to watching greece play america in the b'ball and i saw about a quarter of the match because Seven kept cutting to swimming heats! (WHO CARES ABOUT THE HEATS!!!) swimming is definitely being forced down the throats of viewers, the variety and consistent programming on sbs is so much more enjoyable. Seven should just stick to AFL and shows like Today Tonight because they are failing miserably to stretch themselves very far.

Sbs could be such a fantastic channel if it had the resources of the 3 big commercial channels, it obviously has a person at the top who knows what viewers want. One more bone... i think out of respect for the channel's association with the game... SBS should be the ONLY broadcaster of olyroo and socceroo matches... the commercial channels have no idea. I remember when Seven had the right to the old NSL and never showed anything! just my opinion.

but yes in regards to you question... i have been very frustrated and unhappy with the coverage of channel seven.. they could definitely learn something from sbs.

  8. 100% agree with you!

Eg:2nite basketball USA vs Greece, during the game playing can suddenly switch to swimming...

    this's reli sucks....

so their sponsors such as Coles/Telstra/Lenovo im d**n sure not gona use tehir service/buy things from them...

  9. Well thank god it's on free-to-air, otherwise you would really have something to whinge about.
