Regardless of his football coaching prowess I have a lot of respect for him as a man. The manner in which he dealt with Mark Williams' "choking" gesture to Choco Williams was one thing.

Mow he is defending Jeff Kennett for his comments about Melbourne FC relocating. Clarkson said, referring to Kennett, "People who have the responsibility of governance in all levels of industry has got a responsibility to rattle the cage."

I agree with Clarkson - whether you agree with Kennet's comments or not.

  1. He's OK.

They'll lose a couple of games soon & all the back-patters will be blaming him for the team losing.

  2. OK

I can't remember who they had as coach last year - but Clarkson is better than him!

  3. He scores about 7/10 in my book.

Paul Roos & Leigh Matthews leave the rest for dead.

  4. I support the Hawks, so I think that what Clarkson has been able to do with the team is excellent. The players all have a lot of respect for him and has helped to make the Hawks what they are today - he rebuilt them.

He's gained a lot more attention since leaving the Power's Coaching staff, but still respects his opponents (telling Williams to apologise to Williams). I think he's Great!

  5. I'm not sure what type of person Alastair Clarkson is but he's certainly coached the Hawks to one of the top teams of the AFL. He hasn't always had success but this year might be the year for his team to win the grand final. They are in hot form.

  6. Good.

I liked him all the better when he told Mark Williams where the door was - & that's where he'd be heading if he carried on any more re the choking business.

  7. AWESOME AS!!

helped make the hawks undefeated!! wooo!! go hawks

  8. Why dosent Hawthorn go to Tasmania???????????

Y ship another loved Victorian team up to Queensland......??

He speaks for himself........Look at what he has done for the team since hes been there

  9. Alastair Clarkson is a great coach - he has taught the Hawks a lot. You could tell that by attending, even just watching a game.

Our skills have improved dramatically since we got Clarko.

SO GLAD HE SIGNED ANOTHER CONTRACT!!

As for Jeff Kennett - He's the President of the HFC, why shouldn't he be able to make comments about another team relocating? Clarko's response says it all.

Clarko has trained the Hawks to fly...

    and fly we will !!!

    HFC 2008 !

  10. at the moment i think he is a great coach 1 reason is because he MADE THE MIGHTY HAWKS UNDEFEATED AFTER 9 ENTIRE ROUNDS

he is a great coach and has lifted hawthorn of the table, they used to be an awful team but now they are on top of the ladder

i was angry at what jeff kennett had said during the week this was because melbourne fired up after it

    and pushed hawthorn all day

  11. I think Clarkson has really proven himself as a coach and conducted things well in regard to his team.

However, I do not think that Kennett should be sticking his nose in the business of one of the founding clubs of the AFL, especially after all the Melbourne/Hawks merger rife of the 90's!

I can see where Kennett is coming from and it makes sense. But he needs to realise that he is not the Victorian Premier anymore, so whatever goes on at Victorian clubs or anywhere else is none of his business.

As Hawthorn President, he ought to worry about whether his club should relocate to Tasmania, or pull the pin on playing there altogether instead of telling Melbourne what to do!

That man wants to have his cake and to eat it too!

  12. i think he is a good coach...although sometimes a good team makes an average coach looks good

he has the respect of the players

    and as another poster said,

they are first and undefeated after 9 rounds
