What do you think of American newspapers in general?

I moved to Houston last year after having worked as a reporter/editor, covering the Middle Eastern beat, for nearly 10 years. Now I'm finding it hard to get a job at the local papers... why is this? I do think Houston needs more than just one broadsheet newspaper and the community newspapers need more visibility. What do you all think of the newspapers here in H-town? Are they serving your needs for news?

Most American papers and news channels don't cover much of the world but the united states.  when i was traveling the world they would alway have stories  and news on all parts of the world, when i pick up foreign papers or watch news channels. But for some reason the international world is very limited when it comes to American giving News.   That's why i dont even watch CNN no more. I rather get sources and info from BBC or Reuters
