I'm from the Tampa Bay area and although I respect Favre and think he was once one of the best in the game- I think his days are numbered and I really don't want him to come to Tampa.

  1. not even a possibility

  2. Doesn't tampa have like 7 quarterbacks already?

  3. He probably will end up with the bengals. The Bengals colours match their name, which is a tiger.  The qb is above averae.

  4. As a Packer fan, I'm sad about it.  However,  Brett Favre deserves to be with a team that really values him.  If that team is the Buccaneers or the Jets, so be it.  The Packer leadership has really messed up!  They'll probably realize just how badly after he's been traded.

  5. ESPN is reporting that the Tampa Bay Bucs are holding a press confrence this afternoon to name Brett Favre as a Buccaneer.

Look for the Jets to go for Garcia

  6. As much as I dislike Favre he is a great QB and better than anyone on the Bucs squad. So it would be good for TB and bad for the rest of the NFC South.

  7. give chris simms his job back already!

  8. anything is possible with brett favre now. maybe he'll retire again

  9. Bucs should not get Farve in my personal opinion.  I am hoping the Jets get him.  The bucs are not a strong enough team for him.

  10. they should be looking forward to getting him. But they do have alot of QB's already and if they have to get rid of one for farve i dont think they should because he's already old and i agree with you it's an up and down thing this could help them or hurt them but really help them becuase the Buccaneer's havent had to many good seasons the past few years a QB with expierence like Farve is usefull

  11. First of all, I totally see the point of view the Packers organization has in this whole mess.  Here you have a guy who RETIRED back in March, and the wheels were set in motion to make Aaron Rodgers the starting QB and possible heir to the Favre throne...yet the King apparantly couldn't stay away from his castle in Green Bay, and totally threw a monkeywrench into any plans to move on.

In any case...yes...he is a hall-of-fame Quarterback who...as evidenced by last season's tremendous run in titletown...HAS the ability to lead a team to multiple victories on his arm, and I can only imagine if and when he gets a grasp on Jon Gruden's complex offensive scheme...will be as deadly as any starting Quarterback in the league...That remains the only variable here, though...IMO...Will Bret work hard enough to learn it...and other than playing Green Bay....will his game work ethic be as sharp as it was up north?  Does he have enough of the love of playing and competing in his mind to match what might be left in his tired, old body?  I also think he is an improvement injury-prone-wise to Jeff Garcia....but Garcia was a pro-bowler last season and proved he can do the job very well also...so that leads me to question wether or not this might be the right move for Tampa Bay....

To ultimately answer a "Yes" or "No" to the question, though...I would have to say his days may be numbered...but Bret Favre has the tools for AT LEAST one more season to lead a team far...and I hope it is my beloved Buccaneers that he takes to the promised land!  YES!

  12. Favre is a definite upgrade.  Hes top 4 QBs in the NFC, and last time I checked...is #1 in every important stat category in QB history.

Favre will do OK in tampa, but will need more then 1 season to help the team completely.

  13. Even though I think Favre is a complete "tool" for the way he has handled his whole "I'm going to retire. . .no wait I want to keep playing" thing, he's a great QB and would make any team better, so the Bucs would be a better team with him, I'd think.
