  1. I think it is a good move for him but I'm sorry he's still going to be aligned with Ganassi..... Ganassi should be run out of NASCAR and Dario should take him out back and kick his rear end.

  2. Well, he was in a crappy team. Ganassi is so sub par. But, really,

I think Dario never should have left IRL in the first place. He excells

there. It is his talent. So, I am glad to see him go back there.

  3. Wow... I've not been paying attention to the headlines, another thing I didn't hear yet.

My opinion, I think it's a loss to Nascar. Poor guy... he had a bad luck & probably not a good enough team.

  4. i think it's a loss. franchitti was doing ok for a rookie - not great, but ok - then seemingly got screwed when ganassi shut the team down. for a while it seemed like franchitti was so frustrated - even after talking to chip - that he was quoted as searching elsewhere for a ride. and when it was announced that reed sorenson was leaving ganassi, it seemed as though he was being "disrespected" in some way because he was not immediately named as the driver for the target car next year. and franchitti is a possible franchise name - i mean he did win the indy 500 and the irl championship last year. plus he's married to ashley judd!!!

    ;-)

what i can't believe is that he's going back to race with chip in the irl, and that he'll be replacing dan wheldon next year, who will be going to "panther racing." that sounds like a step down to me, but again, i don't know the irl all that well. i don't know all the details there, but it was unexpected - that he would continue to race with chip and that wheldon was on his way out - at least by me. but then again, i'm no expert on the irl, so there are probably good reasons for it - i just don't know them...

  5. Good riddance, he wasnt worth a c**p.

  6. I think that's best for his racing career at this time, though I wish that the circumstances at CGRWFS had turned out differently at least with him being able to run a full season.

Its a sign of the times when the defending Indy 500 & IRL Champion makes a much publicized move from IRL to NASCAR & doesn't get a full season due to sponsorship...

  7. I think it is a good idea.  A mixture of both, bad team, bad luck and just not cut out for Nascar.  I think he will be better and much happier back in IRL.  If he did another season in Nascar he would be unhappy.

Remember he did break his ankle in a crash this year.  I think that was a contributing factor (a small one) of why not to keep racing.

  8. i dont think he would have been good in nascar, he wasnt with a winning team..at least when he goes back to irl he can start winning again

  9. He'll probably be happier there. I think his problems in NASCAR were a combination of bad team and bad luck. It's kind of a shame. He seemed like a likeable, personable guy.

I have to wonder why he'd want to work again with a guy who screwed him over, though.

  10. He had to do what he had to do I guess. I liked Dario, he was a very well spoken driver who respected the other drivers around him and was happy to be in Nascar just like Patrick Carpentier. I say its a loss for Nascar and a gain for the Indy Car series and I don't think Chip was putting all his efforts into his Nascar program.
