This is the "mother" of 15 year old Scarlett Keeling who was murdered in Goa. Scarlett was left behind in the "care" of a local tour guide when the family moved on. The astonishing thing is the MacKeown says she does not blame herself. Your thoughts.

  1. Neil T, do you mean taxpayers money ?.

  2. I think she should be investigated by social services because her other children are likely to be at risk. She has done a very good job of routing the Indian judicial system, but she needs to be prepared for all lasers to be pointed at her, as people demand to know why her daughter had taken three tabs of acid, as well as ecstacy and cocaine, and was seen snorting more coke with the locals in the hours just before she was murdered. Her mother had left her with a 25 year-old tour guide (nominated 'boy friend') who the mother confesses she was 'rather unsure about', while she and the kids went off for a bit of sight seeing.

Frankly, this form of negligence *seems* (and I stress the word because we don't have all the facts) to represent the worst possible case of hippy pomposity I have ever witnessed.

  3. I think she is totally irresponsible. To leave a 15 year old girl in the company of a stranger while you head off to a neighbouring state is unbelievable.

  4. This irresponsible parent should be held to account. She should be charged with neglect.

Whatever way you look at it, this poor girl was a minor.

  5. Wow I have not seen this story, but where did they move on to ? who killed her ?

  6. I'll withhold judgement at the moment.  I'd like to know why they were having a six month holiday, shouldn't she be at school?  What about the father? ..

The following quote is telling (Daily Mail):

"The trip was our Christmas present to ourselves," explains Fiona, whose only income is the unspecified State benefits that she receives.

    'Sponger' comes to mind.
