  1. I thought he was alright but I prefer Mantovani.

  2. My friend, I am SO very with you there! It is unfortunate that Poulenc has never really been given his due, and a respectable place in the annals of classical music. He rates highly in my book, not only for the reason that he was largely self-taught, but also for his individualism.

Poulenc was free to roam, and did so merrily, right up my alley. I often wonder if my attraction to French music of the 1920s is not due to the influence of Poulenc.

Poulenc, it seems, was the "Prince" (Rogers-Nelson) of Paris, and like his contemporary counterpart, a musical genius who was never at a loss for creativity.

I am fortunate in that both my Music Theory instructor and a church choir director delighted in the compositions of Poulenc and promoted him shamelessly!

Me too! And how about that Erik Satie?
