June 10th and June 11 Republican Senators invoked a rule that hadn't been used for ages to stop hearings on torture memos etc. They invoked an old rule never used that if any Senator objected the hearing would be shut down in 2 hours. The objecting (ONE) Senator did not have to be on the record!

Republican or Democrat!!! This is not a Democracy without oversight from our elected officials. THey must be allowed to pursue the truth about any malfeasance.

Republicans! Please answer this not as partisans but remember you are Americans first. This kind of action will be used when your party (minority after this next elections want to hold hearings on the Democratic leaders---should they abuse the Constitution!

So please all--- respond as Americans not partisans!

  1. A COVER UP by the GOP.

  2. The republicans are trying to keep fascism on the forefront so they can control us easier!

  3. Sounds like a filibuster. Nothing out of the ordinary for the Senate. Both sides do things like this.

  4. The Republicans thinkg that the show 24 is a documentary.

They think if they smack around somebody with Mid Eastern decent, they will spew out a wealth of terrorist cell information, and the country will be saved from a mushroom cloud.

The U.S. government has photographic evidence that a Guantanamo Bay inmate was tortured with a knife after being taken to Morocco by U.S. forces. Reprieve said their client, Binyam Mohamed, had his genitals slashed repeatedly with a doctor's scalpel while in custody in Morocco after he was flown there from Pakistan by American officials in 2002. It also said his U.S. captors later took pictures of the abuse to show authorities that his wounds were healing.

  5. These trials are a very serious matter and deal with sensitive issues.  The people on trial and in those prisons ARE terrorists.  There is evidence to prove that they have committed terrorist activities against U.S. citizens and troops and against our allies or that they have conspired to do so.  The long wait for a trial is not because of any conspiracy by our government.  It is because we must get permission from the country these terrorists are from in order to extradite them so that we can try them under U.S. and international laws.  That can take a very long time, especially if we are dealing with countries that support and fund terrorists.  Don't listen to the liberal media.  They are not reporting on all of the facts.

I don't know why any Republican would stop the trials, or if it happened exactly as you claim it did.  But to jump to the conclusion that something "shady" is going on is just paranoid conspiracy nonsense.

  6. Objective as you might be to this, the Democrats have done the same, just on different topics. Perhaps not through the rule you made interest in, but through politics.

Example, there was a bill that failed to pass in the senate by vote.....the republicans left the building....they reopened the floor after it was done and closed just so Nancy Peloski could cast a deciding vote then they closed the preceedings since republican's had found out this little scam and was racing back to fix it but couldn't get in.

That's dirty and flat out fraud, but that's what we have in Washington. Weasel's, dirty and corrupt jerks that don't have enough leadership to head up a janitorial staff. They insulate themselves from the voters and citizens of this country, they s***w the taxpayer over every day.

Aren't you upset of the $300 billion bail out for Bear and Steans ? Since when does the Government bail out private sectors ? and at Taxpayer expense ?

What about the $310 billion farm bill ? Commodities are at a all time high, the American farmer is getting rich due to the price of grains.

What of the $300 billion Mortgage bail out...expecially when the FBI's report showed 80% of these idiots to have lied on their application......not withstanding that congress was the one's responsible for making lenders offer loans to the unqualified in the first place.

ITs a dog eat dog war of corruption, and some initiatives need to be passed, one way or another. I can't say I agree or disagree on this one or not, i'm not privey to the details, but its a big game of cat and mouse, and the citizen is the one that gets screwed if its bad legislation. Like terrorists getting rights under the constitution.... or the Feds over riding a states capital punishment of a child rapist. This corruption needs to go................on both sides.
