What do you think of George Washington?

okay I've daid it before, I think he is a stupid idot and an overrated person. But what do you think of him? Was he a good general? A good president? A good person? Would American exist without him?

He's certainly overrated by Americans.  No, he was not a good general, except when it came to retreating, something Washington was a master at; this helped to ensure the Americans would win the rebellion, because all they had to do was hold out against a vastly superior force.  As a president, he was mediocre, except, and this cannot be overlooked regardless of what one thinks of the man, Washington gave up power twice: after the rebellion was over and after his second term as president was over.  In the 18th century, this was certainly a blow to the monarchies and aristocracies all over the world.  However, Americans often blow this out of proportion; many men had crafted the government and Constitution and they all shared power to some degree.  Washington could afford to step down from a high office because he knew his property and wealth would be safe and he would be allowed to go on exploiting the masses of America unhindered by the government.
